What is Reiki? {from www.reiki.org}
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy."
A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. Many have reported miraculous results.
Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and malady and always creates a beneficial effect. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.
An amazingly simple technique to learn, the ability to use Reiki is not taught in the usual sense, but is transferred to the student during a Reiki class. This ability is passed on during an "attunement" given by a Reiki master and allows the student to tap into an unlimited supply of "life force energy" to improve one's health and enhance the quality of life.
Its use is not dependent on one's intellectual capacity or spiritual development and therefore is available to everyone. It has been successfully taught to thousands of people of all ages and backgrounds.

Reiki I Certification:
Introduction to Reiki history; the benefits of Reiki and how it can enhance your life. Learn how to conduct a Reiki session on yourself and others.
Reiki II Certification:
Students receive ancient Reiki symbols to access the Reiki energy in a more powerful way. This level enables you to use the symbols to empower your personal goals and in sending long distance healing.
A.R.T. (Advanced Reiki Training):
To qualify you must be certified in Reiki I and II.
Reiki III Master/Teacher Certification:
To qualify to take this class a student must have taken Reiki I and II and A.R.T. (Advanced Reiki Training). Students will learn how to increase the strength of your Reiki energy; Master symbols which increase the effectiveness of the Reiki II symbols and can be used for healing; meditation that strengthens the mind and expands consciousness; advanced techniques to solve problems and achieve goals; and the use of crystals and stones, to name a few. Students will learn how to perform an attunement, teach Reiki.
Upon completion students will be awarded with a Certificate of Completion from Terry, earning the title of Reiki Master/Teacher, thus allowing you to teach Reiki and certify others to teach Reiki.
Karuna Reiki®
The Meaning of Karuna Reiki® {from www.reiki.org}:
Karuna is a Sanskrit word and is used in Hinduism and Buddhism. It is translanted to mean any action that is taken to diminish the suffering of others and could also be translated as "compassionate action." When individuals experience enlightenment, they report that all beings are known as one. Therefore, it is natural to extend compassionate action or Karuna to everyone without distinction because we are all one. As we help others and aid them in their healing process, all beings benefit. Because of the oneness of all beings, it is understood that Karuna is not only extended to others out of love, but also because it is an entirely logical thing to do. In the same way that you would want to heal your own wounds, you would also want the wounds of others to heal. It is also stated in the Buddhist literature that Karuna must be accompanied by parjna or wisdom in order to have the right effect.
Karuna is the motivating quality of all enlightened beings who are working to end suffering on Earth. They continually send an unlimited amount of healing energy and guidance to us, but not all are receptive to it. As you develop Karuna in yourself, not only are you helping others, but you also become more receptive to the Karuna that is being sent by all enlightened beings. Thus your healing is quickened as well.
Karuna Reiki® opens you to work more closely with all enlightened beings. This includes those enlightened ones who are physically present as well as those in spirit.

Karuna Reiki® Certification Prerequisite:
Students must be certified Reiki Master/Teacher and complete both classes to be eligible for Karuna certification.
Karuna I and Karuna II:
Both levels of Karuna Reiki® and both attunements will be given as well as instruction and practice on the use of all twelve symbols. You will be able to practice all four levels of Karuna Reiki®, two practitioner levels and two master levels after taking this class.
Upon successful completion of Karuna Reiki® certification classes, students must submit proof of completion (supplied by instructor) to The International Center for Reiki Training.
Registration/Refund/Cancellation Policy
o We accept payment for all classes at the time of registration. If credit card payment cannot be made over the phone, the student will not be registered for the class until a check/money order is received.
o Students may register up to 1 week before the class date. Additional students will be allowed to register after that date at the discretion of Chagrin Valley Wellness Institute.

o If an emergency arises which causes a participant to cancel a reservation in a class, the money paid can be used on a future class. Refunds are given to students on a case-by-case basis. It is at the discretion of management who will receive a refund.
o If student is a no-show, there will be no refund.
o Continuing Education certificates for Licensed Massage Therapists will be printed and distributed after attendance at the class. The student must have no balance due.
